For many of us, exercise is the great bane of our day, if we manage to do it at all.
But there are ways to burn calories that do not require a treadmill or weights. These are activities you could be doing everyday, from cooking and cleaning to the crossword puzzle.
“It’s flabbergasting how much you can lose by doing some of these activities for a little while,” said Dr. Holly Lofton, director of the Weight Management Program at NYU’s Langone Medical Center.
However, a little more busy work throughout the day cannot take the place of working out. “Most people are sitting for six hours a day, so an hour at the gym does not make up for it,” Lofton said.
