Have you ever noticed your energy and mood fluctuating periodically during the day? I imagine the answer is “yes,” providing that you’re at least moderately self-aware. Our hormones and diet play a huge role in establishing Circadian rhythms, but our organs and energy meridians are also linked to how we feel throughout the day. It’s our human body energy clock.
Between 3 and 5am:
You’re ending your final sleep cycle and the lungs are fully in play. Deep breathing helps bring oxygen back into your blood and settle your nerves.
Between 5 and 7am:
Your large intestine is at its busiest. This is an optimal time for elimination, as you’re beginning your day with a fully cleansed body.
Between 7 and 9am:
Your stomach is front and center. Breakfast should be your largest meal as it’s the optimal time to digest. Have a breakfast high in fiber as well.
Between 9 and 11am:
Your pancreas and spleen are hardest at work. They’re helping your body metabolize the food you’ve eaten and create energy for the day. This is a great time to exercise and get your work done.
Between 11am and 1pm:
Your heart is the star of the show. It’s now working hard pumping oxygen and nutrients through your blood, giving energy and nourishment to your whole body. This is a great time to have a cup of tea and maybe take a nap.
Between 1 and 3pm:
Your small intestine is working at finishing digesting your breakfast. Lunch should be eaten now.
Between 3 and 5pm:
Your bladder is preparing for a major release of metabolic waste. This is a great time to drink a big glass of water and engage in some mentally challenging activities.
Between 5 and 7pm:
The kidneys are continuing to do their work cleansing the body of waste. Continue drinking water. This is a great time for light exercise, stretching, and a small dinner.
Between 7 and 9pm:
Your blood pressure is at its highest. It’s a sign that you should stretch, kick back, and relax. This is also an ideal time for sex.
Between 9 and 11pm:
Your endocrine is working to create equilibrium and replace enzymes used throughout the day. This is the easiest time for falling asleep.
